Synopsis:
During the Civil War, U.S. Army scouts Gene Autry and "Cougar" Claggett are detailed to bring in Confederate guerilla raider Wade McQuarrie, who is interfering with Federal supply lines. They track the raiders to Gateway, a frontier Army post commanded by Colonel Middler who has a daughter, Dell, and a son, Walt, a McQuarrie sympathizer. Gene and Dell are captured by McQuarrie but escape. Together with Walt, who repents his previous alliance, they put an end to McQuarrie's plundering.
