Detailed Synopsis: Jed Parker and several of Quantrells Raiders, fleeing with a U.S. Army paymasters gold, dynamite a cliff to hide their wagon in order to evade their pursuers. As they bed down for the night, Parker kills the other raiders so he wont have to share the money. Years pass. Parker dies and a relative, Warren Kent, finds the story in his diary. The gold is hidden on a ranch belonging to Big Jim Watson, Sheriff Gene Autrys friend. To uncover the gold, Kent swears to get the property, ordering a series of raids. Pretending to be a friend, Kent wounds Idaho, an ex-convict, who tries to shoot Gene in the back. However, he also makes it known that he is interested in Genes girl, Susan Watson, Big Jims daughter. Jims foreman notifies Jim of a raid on his ranch. Gene and Pat Buttram are unable to find the rustlers, so Jims ranchmen quit. Later, when Jim himself is shot, Gene and Kent take off in hot pursuit. Kent kills Calico, one of his own men, to keep him from talking. Gene suggests putting the ranch up for sale to see who is really after it. When nothing happens, Gene sends Jim to the hospital and his cattle to the Circle J Ranch. Kent, thinking the ranch deserted, plays his hand and goes after the gold, but Gene intercepts him. Pat uncovers the money, but Kent and his heavies rob him and Gene. A free-for-all fight begins, during which Gene and Pat get the upper hand. The raiders are then finally handed over to the justice of the law.
