The Autry National Center will serve as a rest area for all agencies fighting the fire in Griffith Park. The Fire Department, Park Rangers and Police Officers have been invited to rest in the cafe, plaza, or on the grounds with free food and beverages provided by the Autry and Cheers Catering. The cafe will be open until 4:00 (regular closing time) or until further notice. The Autry is located just north of the blaze across from the Los Angeles Zoo. It is closed to the public today, however, staff is on-site and will be welcoming the weary public service personnel in gratitude for their heroic efforts, safe-guarding the museum and the other public destinations in Griffith Park.

About the Autry National Center
The Autry National Center is an intercultural history center that includes the Southwest Museum of the American Indian, the Museum of the American West (formerly the Autry Museum of Western Heritage), and the Institute for the Study of the American West. Each institution maintains its individual identity; however, the convergence of resources allows us to expand our understanding of the diverse peoples of the American West, connecting the past with the present to inform our shared future. The Autry National Center’s executive offices are located in Griffith Park.

Museum of the American West
The Museum of the American West explores the interwoven histories and myths of the American West and its diverse peoples. The museum enhances our understanding of the present by collecting, preserving, and interpreting objects and art, making connections between people today and those who have shaped the past. It is located in Griffith Park. The Museum of the American West and Museum Store are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. From June 1 to August 31, Thursday hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Admission is free on the second Tuesday of every month and free for veterans year round. Admissionis $9 for adults, $5 for students and seniors 60+, $3 for children 3–12, and free for Autry members, veterans and children 2 and under.
