More "Cowboys of the Silver Screen"
Stamp Celebrations in California

Posted April 2, 2010

The good folks at the City of Santa Clarita, California have just announced that they will be celebrating the new USPS "Cowboys of the Silver Screen" stamps at this year's Cowboy Festival.

  Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival

Santa Clarita, CA April 1, 2010 – Calling all Philatelists (Stamp Collectors)!! On Saturday April 24, at the Melody Ranch Stage, the Postal Service will unveil the new 44–cent, Cowboys of the Silver Screen commemorative stamp in four designs in a pane of 20 stamps and a booklet of 20 stamped postal cards and have created a special Cowboy Festival postmark. The Cowboys of the Silver Screen stamps honor four extraordinary film stars who helped make the American Western film a popular form of entertainment from the silent era through the singing era: William S. Hart, Tom Mix, Gene Autry, and Roy Rogers. Robert Rodriguez, the artist who created the stamp images will be at Melody Ranch that day from 10:00 to 11:30 AM for autographs. In addition, we’ll be selling a four postcard set in our General Store featuring Festival images that are a great way to tell your friends about your Festival experience.

For more information please visit www.cowboyfestival.org or call (661) 286-4021.
