Auld Lang Syne
Gene Autry's Melody Ranch Radio Show

In 1953 Gene Autry had a four-week personal appearance tour in London, England at the eight-thousand-seat Empress Hall. Gene brought with him his touring revue that included Gail Davis, the Cass County Boys, Pat Buttram, Carl Cotner, Tony White Cloud Indians, and of course his horses Champion and Little Champ. Many of these folks were also on Gene's Melody Ranch radio show so he decided to do four radio programs from London. The last show was transcribed on August 4th and broadcast on the full CBS Radio Network on August 23, 1953.

Gene closes the show and his visit to London with a performance of "Auld Lang Syne" with the George Mitchell Choir. It is the appropriate tune because, as Gene says in the introduction to the song, "We Americans made it our song for a very special occasion whenever old friends have gotten together and the time comes to say goodbye."
