Silent Night
Gene Autry's Melody Ranch Radio Show
(December 24, 1949)

Gene Autry's December 24, 1949 Melody Ranch Christmas Eve Party radio broadcast ended with Gene's beautiful performance of "Silent Night" accompanied by Carl Cotner's Orchestra plus the musical trios the Cass County Boys and the Pinafores.

The song "Silent Night" is significant to Gene Autry's radio broadcasts because it was both the first and last Christmas song he performed on his show. The very first time was during the live broadcast from the KNX studios in Hollywood, California on the December 22, 1940 as part of the show's dramatic story. The last time was at the end of the show which was transcribed at CBS Studio 1 in Hollywood on December 22, 1955 and broadcast on December 25, 1955. All shows were on the full CBS Radio Network.
