Pat’s rooster leads Pat and Gene into an adventure at the county fair.
Detailed Synopsis:
Pat Buttram has high hopes that his rooster, Lover Boy, will win first prize at the Carterville Fair. However, the sponsor of the fair, Spencer Baldwin, arrives in bad temper because his valuable gem collection was stolen during the trip. He and his wife will withdraw support from the fair if the jewels are not recovered. Meanwhile, the two thieves, Doc McCoy and Tom Jenkins, recruited by Doll, the owner of the Lucky Seven Café, to help her fleece the public during fair time, hide the gems in Lover Boy's cage. Pat takes the coop away before they can get back the gems, so Doc and Tom use every means available to get the rooster. Gene Autry, seeking the outlaws, gets a lead when Pat tells him Doc offered two hundred dollars for Lover Boy. The heavies steal the rooster and prepare to kill it because they think it has eaten the gems. Gene and Pat arrive just in time to rescue Lover Boy. Taking the outlaws back to town, they intercept Doll and her gunslingers holding up the town bank while everyone is at the fair. The heavies are brought to justice and the fair is saved.
