Detailed Synopsis:

Needing quick money to support his sister Sue and little brother Bobby, Jerry Miller gets involved with notorious train robber Vance Evans. Jerry, however, has second thoughts and is on his way back home when Evans' henchmen catch him. The outlaws think he is going to talk to the authorities and, therefore, ride out with him to "drop him in a hole." Gene Autry and Pat Buttram, waiting to ambush the robbers, save Jerry from certain death in a running gun battle. The bandits then go after Sue and Bobby, but Gene arrives to stop the attempted kidnapping. During the ensuing fistfight, Sue accidentally hits Gene over the head with a frying pan, knocking him unconscious. Bobby gets a gun and shoots at the outlaws, who take off into the hills. Jerry, hiding in a closet, convinces Gene he is not one of the outlaws and tells him where Evans is hiding. After leaving Jerry in Pat's care, Gene goes to Mike Halen's bar to try to get some information, unaware that Bobby and Sue are following him. Sue warns Gene of approaching henchmen, but before Gene can escape, they spot him. A second fight follows, during which Gene succeeds in knocking out both men, only to be held up by Evans himself. Evans forces Gene to drive him out of town, while he lies hidden in a wagon with Bobby by his side as a hostage. But Gene, deliberately guiding the wagon over a rock, back-flips into the wagon and captures the outlaw.
