Detailed Synopsis:
Johnny, the eleven-year-old nephew of Gene Autry and Pat Buttram's boss Lynne Moore, comes west from Philadelphia full of misapprehensions about the wide-open spaces. His attitude earns him the nickname "Johnny Jackaroo." Pat is so irritated by the incorrigible lad that he plans a mock stage robbery, which proves only too real. The culprits dress as Gene and Pat, fooling all witnesses, including Johnny. This puts the cowboys between a hard riding posse and the actual gunmen. With Johnny's juvenile detection to help them, Gene and Pat face down the real culprits and prove to Johnny that there is a lot more to life than what meets the human eye.
